Were You A Big Baby? Then You're At Increased Risk For Breast Cancer

Researchers from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine recently published a study concluding that heavier and longer babies are more at risk for developing breast cancer later in life. This isn't really that surprising, given that adult height is also a risk factor for breast cancer - women who are 5'9" or taller are slightly more likely to develop breast cancer than women who are 5'3" or shorter.
The risk associated with birth size is small, however, when compared to other factors, such as the presence of the BRCA genes. The researchers believe that birth size may cause about five percent of all breast cancers in women 80 years old and younger.
